Disorder Theme #77

Posted in Photography on June 19, 2012 by paintedmeadows

This mess of twigs is a great way to disguise the nest of a common raven in a coniferous tree.  Should be chicks in it soon!!

So this will be my last post until I heal up after surgery.  My surgery is friday morning and we are leaving tomorrow.  Thank you all for the support and wonderful comments on my photos.  I am sorry I haven’t been replying to them all.  I just haven’t been up to it but I promise I will keep up when I am feeling better.  I will also catch up then.  See you on the flip side!

The mortar and pestle in our kitchen.  We used it for crushing herbs and spices.  They taste so much better this way.

The sky had been overcast all day and just started to clear up as the sun went down.

Leisure Theme #171

My son’s cat, Quimby, is enjoying the sunset from his warm seat on the lawn tractor.  It’s one of his favourite spots this year and I think that is because the caterpillars don’t climb up there.  lol

Feminine Theme #110

My little friend the Eastern Phoebe looking after her eggs which take about 15 – 16 days to incubate.  What is more feminine than motherhood?  I can’t wait to see her hatchlings!!

Bright Theme #31

This little Yellow Warbler is another bird that I don’t see around here regularly but I think he was brought in by the caterpillars.  If you look closely at the tree you can see that it is slowly getting devoured by the caterpillars too.  So sad.

Gross Theme #137

I love my new macro lense!! Now for spiders…………….  This little guy/girl is smaller than my pinkie nail.  Go on, blow it up, I dare ya!!

Work Theme #360

These are the dreaded tent caterpillars building their cuccoons.  After I took the pictures I got Aidan to destroy them!!

He’s looking at you!!!

On this photo, just for fun, I applied the Topaz Adjust 5 Vibrant Boost filter.  I like it.
