Letters in Nature Theme #169

Posted in Photography on August 31, 2011 by paintedmeadows

The letter V!!  I used my Lensbaby composer on this shot.  Then for processing I first adjusted color slightly and then used PSE9 and Topaz Adjust to apply the Smooth and Flat filter to draw more attention to the branch.

Movement Theme #188

My son Aidan, always in motion!  He was having a great time splashing through the water as the sun set behind him.

Sandy Theme #251

This is the beach at Mcleod Lake by Whitecourt, Alberta.  I love the little bird footprints along the shoreline while the sun was setting to give it that orange, warm feeling.  I also had to throw in a picture of our little 3 1/2 month old Westie, Fiona.  She had a great time in the lake and the sand as you can see!

Warm Theme #351

Our campfire!  Maybe a little more than warm but oh so relaxing!!  Kept away the mossies that Ron asked about!  lol.  Actually, there weren’t really any around which was really nice!

Nautical Theme #195

I guess I don’t need to say much except I used PSE9 with Topaz Ajust HDR Sketch filter.

Burgundy Theme #32

This beautiful little branch caught my eye as we were sitting around the campfire.  I thought it was so beautiful in the ray of light.

Orbs Theme #209

I hope these count as orbs.  This was the sun setting over Mcleod lake just outside of Whitecourt, Alberta.  I just stepped out of our campsite to get this shot.  It was so beautiful!

Portrait Theme #226

OK.  So here are more duck pictures like I promised you.  I really enjoyed having them there.  Mama duck was so patient and calm.  When I started taking pictures of just her she really started to pose.  30 pictures later I have a bunch of wonderful shots and the little ones started to get jealous.  lol.  I couldn’t resist adding the next photo of 2 ducklings.  They were so adorable.

Look at the heart shape their heads made!!  If I still had the “Shapes in Nature” theme I would have used this picture for that.

Five Theme #106

This old stump has 5 different types of plants gaining life from it.  I didn’t set any of it up.  I was just lucky enough to be looking at things with a new eye.  Photography has done that for me.  I look at everything in a new way.  With this one I almost expected a little fairy to come out from under the mushroom.

Comfort Foods Theme #55

Posted in Photography on August 22, 2011 by paintedmeadows

These little ducklings were scooping up some comfort food before they settled down for their nap.  There are 5 in the picture (see the one hiding in the back?) but there were actually 6 of them.  This little pond was in our campsite on holidays.  It was actually a sort of ditch filled with water but must have been full of goodies since they spent alot of time in there and then they would come up on to the bank and nap right by our chairs.  They were so adorable.  I will share more pictures of them and their mom in the next few days.  They got our Westie puppy a little excited but she did really well with them.
