In Shadow Theme #152

Posted in Photography on June 28, 2011 by paintedmeadows

When I was taking the picture of the orange lily the other day I was crouched down in the grass next to one of our fields.  After I was done taking the pictures I looked down to choose my footing (wearing flip flops) and what do I see but this tiny little spiderweb covered in dew hidden in the shadows of the other plants.  I almost stepped on it.  So glad I didn’t!

Hiding Theme #144

Posted in Photography on June 27, 2011 by paintedmeadows

I was taking the pictures that I shared earlier of the bee and a little flash of blue flew by.  It took a bit to find it hiding in the grass.  Can you see it?  Check the picture below it.  I was pretty tickled to get it.

Challenge/Challenging Theme #43

Posted in Photography on June 27, 2011 by paintedmeadows

I was down at the pond trying to get a picture of a fish jumping as they were like popcorn.  Well, after waiting for a long time and getting alot of missed shots and rippling water these ducks (sorry, don’t know what kind) landed in front of me so I decided to photograph them instead and ended up catching a fish jumping in the background.  So my challenge turned out to be triumph by accident!

Fly Theme #111

I need a bit more practice at capturing birds flying but I was pretty happy to get this Redwing Blackbird with it’s wings down so you could actually see the red.

Summer Fun Theme #290

My son, Aidan celebrating graduating from kindergarten with a trip to the waterpark.  It was a great way to end the school year and start out the summer!  A little brisk I would say by the look on his face!

Body Parts Theme #27

This is my husband playing his Rain Song guitar.  He loves this guitar and it sounds beautiful but it takes HIS hands to make it sing!!

The Letter L Theme #313

Posted in Photography on June 22, 2011 by paintedmeadows

This is a lily that grows wild around our fields.  They are always in singles and I just love the colors of them.  Isn’t it beautiful!  If you look closely in the second shot you will see two tiny little flys and an ant.  I didn’t even see them until I got the pictures home and on my computer.  I am tempted to transplant a few of these flowers into my garden.

Relationship Theme #238

Posted in Photography on June 21, 2011 by paintedmeadows

I chose relationship for this group of photos because the clover needs the bee to pollinate it and the bee needs the flower to make honey and sustain it’s hive.  To me this is a wonderful relationship.  I took these pictures freehold with my 70mm-300mm telephoto lens.  I am super happy with the way they came out!

Frilly Theme #117

I love the frilly petals in the center of these peonies.  And the smell is wonderful too!!  My mother-in-law cut them out of her garden and sent them home for me to enjoy since mine aren’t blooming yet.

Depth of Field Theme #72

Some flowers that I took beside the pond today.  I was so happy to get them with my zoom handheld.  Yes, I went unprepared and left my tripod at home.
